Answer: Hoba
Believed to have landed on Earth some 80,000 years ago, the Hoba is the largest known meteorite. It was found by chance, when the land owner, Jacobus Hermanus Brits ploughed with field with a n ox. He heard a large metallic scratching sound when the plough plunged into the obstruction. He excavated around it and identified it as a meteorite.
The Hoba measures 2.7×2.7×0.9 metres with a mass of about 60 tons. The meteorite is composed of about 84% iron and 16% nickel with traces of cobalt.
To this day, it still remains where it was found, near Grootfonstein, Namibia and is open to the public for visiting.
